What is SVC ?

Southport Veterinary Center is a full-service, small animal hospital in Fairfield that provides diagnostic, surgical, and dental care for both cats and dogs. We also provide our clients with the convenience of special food deliveries, medical supplies, grooming, and boarding opportunities, all in-house.

SVC accommodates a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We work closely with local specialty practices when special diagnostic procedures are required.

Here at SVC, we strive to offer not only sound advice but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years. Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn't feeling well but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy.

Our Policies

Appointment Policy

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable.

For your convenience, drop-off appointments are available. A drop-off means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours. Once the doctor is done, she will give you a call to go over the diagnosis and to provide you with discharge instructions.

We make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so as soon as possible. Otherwise, cancellation within 24 hours of an appointment is charged half the cost of a regular office exam. There is a $100 deposit for all surgeries scheduled. If you cancel a surgery within 72 hours of the appointment, the deposit is non-refundable. There is a $100 deposit for boarding. The deposit is non-refundable for boarding cancellations within 72 hours.

Boarding

Boarding is offered on a limited basis. If your pet is on medications, or is elderly, and needs a place to board, we will allow them to board with us. Your pet will need an exam with the doctor when they arrive. All other boarding requests need to be approved by the doctor as we are not a boarding facility. However, we do try to accommodate our clients as much as we can. It is recommended that you bring in your pet's own food and medications. Otherwise, you will be charged for hospital supplies. We provide beds, blankets, litter pans for cats, and food/water dishes for your pet. We urge you not to bring in their bedding, clothing, or leads as they could get misplaced or damaged.

Payment Policy

We require full payment at the time that services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash, and personal checks.

Patient Arrival Policy

For your protection and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms. All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash.
